The Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) is the largest multiprofessional organization dedicated to ensuring excellence and consistency in the practice of critical care.
With 14,000 members in 80 countries, SCCM is the only organization that represents all professional components of the critical care team. The Society offers a variety of activities that promote excellence in patient care, education, research, and advocacy.

The European Society of Intensive Care Medicine is an international non profit-making association of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and other allied healthcare professionals. The number of members is now above 4000. The Society is devoted to the promotion of intensive care medicine, education, research, and professional development.

The Intensive Care Society is the representative body in the UK for intensive care professionals and patients. The Society is dedicated to the delivery of the highest quality of critical care to patients in the UK. We perform many functions for the intensive care community in the UK such as the production of guidelines and standards, stage national meetings, training courses and focus groups.

World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine, WFSICCM

The World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine consists of 48 members societies (both medical and nursing) and is a truly world wide organisation.

The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society is the peak professional and advocacy body for medical practitioners specialising in the treatment and management of critically ill patients in public and private hospitals. ANZICS leads the world in intensive care research through its Clinical Trials Group and patient databases, including the Adult Patient Database, the Paediatric Intensive Care Registry and the Research Centre for Critical Care Resources. The Society is devoted to all aspects of intensive care medical practice through ongoing professional education, the provision of leadership in medical settings, clinical research and analysis of critical care resources.

The Asia Pacific Association of Critical Care Medicine was originated from Western Pacific Association of Critical Care Medicine(WPACCM). The aim of APACCM is to provide support to the colleagues who are promotion and developing this branch of medicine in their conutries. Professor Du Bin, from China, has taken up the post of the Secretary-general of APACCM.

The roots of the American Thoracic Society reach back to 1905, when a small group of physicians decided that the best way to improve care for tuberculosis patients was to share their experiences and discoveries. Today, the ATS has grown into an international society with 15,000 members, the world’s leading medical association dedicated to advancing our clinical and scientific understanding of pulmonary diseases, critical illnesses and sleep-related breathing disorders.
