| 从100年前的前沿杂志，至今天的一线专业刊物，均可进入推选范围 |
| DBIO将获选刊物分为临床医学相关（Clinical Medicine & Allied Health Science）、分子生物学及生物技术（Molecular and Cellular Biology including Journals of Biotechnology and the Leading Multiscience Publications）、自然科学进展（Natural History）三大类 |
| 九名来自DBIO的会员也相应地分为三组，在DBIO主席，Tony Stankus教授的带领下，共同组成专家组，他们将根据各自组内获选刊物的情况，并综合三个组的所有获选刊物情况，分别从每个组中选出33-34种最受会员推崇的刊物，共同组成“100种最具影响力的医学及生物学刊物” |

| 在2009年6月的SLA百年庆典上，SLA将向这100种刊物的主编及出版机构授予证书，之后，在这100种刊物中，还将有10种脱颖而出，获选“全球百年最具影响力的10种医学及生物学刊物”，成为SLA的“奥斯卡” |
